The body series: Insecurities
The Body Series aims to showcase unique perspectives of the human body, which many people, including myself, feel insecure about. Whether it is our hair, eyes, scars, or other physical features, societal standards of beauty often make us feel unworthy and lead to feelings of anxiety, fear, and a struggle for acceptance. During my time at VSU, I discovered a deep connection between my artwork and my emotions, as well as my physical well-being, as I grapple with many insecurities that both frighten and captivate me. This series represents my personal exploration of the body, mind, and emotions, and how our insecurities shape our experiences. I purposefully avoided using bleak or dull colors. This decision stems from my belief that emotions should not be portrayed in a subdued manner, and that the display of insecurities should be depicted with vibrancy. I convey a sense of growth through the use of color and texture to vividly represent complex feelings and experiences.
